Summer is almost here! With picnics, barbques, swimming, and more, it is such a fun time of the year!

I apologize for not updating lately. I have been very busy. Hopefully I will be more blog conscience in the future.

Anyways, I will have more time to make and do some more ornament drops this summer. I am thinking of doing ideas such as slices of fruit, some red, white, and blue colored ornaments for the fourth of July, and maybe even some amigurumi ornaments.

In the future I would like to post some patterns that might not be ornament related at all. I wouldn't know what these would be, for I haven't had the chance to make them yet.
New things are happening and I am looking forward to continuing with the Ornament Society this year!

To get people started with ideas on what to make for ornaments, I have decided to create a post for those needing help deciding what to make first. Remember, if you would like to join (and I hope you do)! Please leave a comment with your email address and I will email you the information ASAP! If you want that comment deleted after I send you the info, just say you want it deleted and I will be happy to delete it for you when I have the chance!

Now onto the patterns:

This is a snowflake pattern that is easy for beginner crocheters and fast to make. I love to make it in worsted weight yarn and a H hook because I don't work with thread as easily as some others.
http://www.jpfun.com/patterns/free/ornaments/f103006minisnowflake.shtml

For those wanting a fun variety of snowflake patterns try the free directory at Crochet Pattern Central. Here is the link to the snowflakes:
http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/snowflakes.php

For those wanting just a different variety of crocheted ornaments:
http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/christmas_ornaments.php

I won't leave the knitters out either, here is a link to the ornaments from Knitting Pattern Central, you have to scroll through to find them since it is mixed in with a bunch of other Christmas things:
http://www.knittingpatterncentral.com/directory/christmas.php

For those NOT into knitting or crochet (hope you didn't forget you could participate too! I am just more of a crocheter than anything else), here is a link to a website that has links to many cute ornament ideas! These are tutorials that don't require knitting or sewing but are so fun I'd thought I'd share:
http://dabbled.org/2009/11/handmade-christmas-ornament-tutorials.html

Remember that the ornaments you make don't have to be Christmas related at all it is done with the spirit of giving without receiving in mind. You can make your ornaments plain or fancy, big or small. None of it matters as long as it is done with the spirit of giving!

For the rest of January my idea for a theme is ornaments related to WINTER. Think snowflakes, mini hats, sleds, mittens, ect. You get the idea!

Then from February 1st until February 14th the theme would and could still be winter but with VALENTINE'S DAY in mind. For that think hearts and red, pink, and white colored ornaments.

Until next time!

Grace and Peace be with you all,

It will hopefully be up here on Monday! I am pretty excited about it! There will hopefully be more patterns for ornaments and I hoping I might even be able to do tutorials about making ornaments out of paper. It is going to be very fun!

Is there any certain ornament you would like me to try to design? Leave a comment telling me what. Keep in mind I can only design crochet patterns because I don't have that much experience in knitting or sewing.

I have already made an ornament for my first drop as part of this society, I am just on the lookout for a good place to put it. I am can hardly wait!

Grace and peace,

My hope is that we will be able to create more joyous seasons throughout the entire year, not just Christmas. The idea is to make an ornament, put it in a plastic bag with a note (emailed to you upon request to join) and secretly place it in an area around your town where you think it will be found.

Christmas is fast approaching and it is one of the busiest times of the year. By stopping for a few minutes to do something for a complete stranger we can give back to the community. You can crochet, knit, sew, or even make a couple ornaments out of paper to "drop off" to the community! It doesn't matter what craft you do, as long as the ornament is handmade. It is so simple and super easy!

To join my fellow friends you can leave a comment below asking to join (please make sure there is a way to contact you through email) and the information needed to proceed will be emailed to you. We ask that all ornaments would be handmade and that you take a picture of it before doing the drop and of the place where you do the drop and email them to the same email that you got the information to join from. This means that the pictures will hopefully appear right on this blog!

If you can join, wonderful! We hope to hear from you soon!
